Richard Schroeder passed away August 13, 2007. Known as 'Wall-to-Wall' back in the 1960s when he often ran at the original Mission Raceway in both an A/FX Nova and his truly spectacular AMX wheelstander, that nick name was because of his girth, not his driving style. Ever the showman, we have lost a great one, and on behalf of the British Columbia Custom Car Association we send our condolences to his family and friends. -Webmaster Please visit his website for more.

The history of Mission Raceway Park and the British Columbia Custom Car Association is a long a storied one. The photos linked from this page are but a very small part of that history.

At the time of the posting we are still lacking imagery from the 1950s, something we will ad to this collection asap. Since the categories go by decades we are still a few years from being able to include anything from the year 2000 on.

This collection was compiled and captioned by the 2005 Webmaster Larry Pfister and includes the work of the people whose names appear below. Over the decades there have been thousands if not millions of still photos taken at the two properties. The just over 200 posted here were taken from many sources with some definite criteria in mind.

First, it is not meant to be a 'history', but more a 'look back'. Many images were chosen not for the immediate subject matter in the foreground, but the overall view as well as what appears in the background, which in many cases we found held more interest than the racer(s) up front.

Most of the images are of vehicles not people because that is what was immediately available at the time of the posting, and the need was there to utilize them to the fullest. People pictures are most definitely on our 'to do' list.

The cars, racers and people you do see here are simply representative of the days gone by. Some are seen multiple times, while many others who some will feel should be here, are not. In the future we will invite input from everyone to make sure nobody is left out.

You will notice we are lacking captions (or have something incorrect) and info on some imagery, so you are invited to e-mail Larry Pfister any information you may have (the more the better) on any photo in question, even if it already has a caption. It may take us some time to get the caption up, but rest assured we appreciate all the help we can get on a project like this.

And yes some images may not be from exactly the decade in which they are placed, but it's a done deal now. Text changes are easy, moving photos is not. Many of these images are from very small proofs that we were not able to really view that well until enlarged with the scanner, and because of our timetable didn't look at too closly at until the pics were placed then finally captioned.

In the meantime, please enjoy what is without question the most comprehensive photo history every put together of the two Mission Raceways.

Please note this is not a commercial project. No money is made here, the photos are for the sharing with the world the rich and cherished history of Mission Raceway.
