2005 Drag Racing season is here!

The 2005 drag racing season at Mission Raceway Park
opened this past Friday night for the first of 18 scheduled
Mopac Performance street legal events. A great field
of nearly 200 cars, trucks and motorcycles were on hand
with Troy Pike's 1966 Chev running low elapsed time
of the night with a 10.312/130mph just slightly quicker
than motorcycle rider Leigh Gallant's 10.32 at 140.77.
Of the twelve Outlaw cars on hand the best numbers
after Dike were, Nathan Hansford's '82 Mustang with
a 10.49 at 131, Steve Nicholson at 10.72 at 122, and
the Buick GN of Clayton Crofton with a 10.80 at 125.
A total of 71 Domestic cars were lead by Rob Rempel
whose S10 laid down a 10.526/133.68 followed by Jones
Soto's 1985 Mustang at 11.27.
A
great group of 94 Sport Compacts were out with four
running in the twelve second zone including the sleeper
1974 240Z Datsun of Mike Boles with a 12.09/115, George
Khoury in a '95 Lancer at 12.19/116, Douglas Suen's
'99 Civic 12.82 at 108 while the 2004 Mopar SRT4 of
Bron Palko managed a 12.99 at 107.

and Motorcycle racers as well as the first appearance
of the new Northwest Hot Rod Diesel Association, the
Hot Rod class and the wild wheelstanding Vancouver Community
College Stock/Super Stock Combo cars.
