Carl Spiering preview

The PM Motorsports team is preparing their Dynamic Concrete Pumping" sponsored 1968 Camaro for the huge "EATON Electrical" presented "Fast and Furious on the Fraser".

This event features a 16 car field featuring some of the fastest Pro Mods in North America and is the second race on the 2007 West Coast Pro Mod Association series. Heavy hitters such as Carl Spiering, IHRA Super star Danny Rowe, Ross Hogenson, and many more are expecting to run career best times this weekend on the sea level track in Mission, British Columbia.

Joe Delehay and his 2006 WCPMA Championship winning team are expecting Career best numbers as well this weekend. "All the teams are going to be running their best this weekend" says Joe, "We have the car and the team to be a top car this weekend". At last year's Pro Mod event in Mission, Delehay and the PM Motorsports team qualified #1 with a 6.20 @ 230 mph."Last year we were in the Dodge Viper" Delehay said. "We ran our career best at Mission with that car, and this year we have a brand new Tim McAmis built car which in early testing has proven to be quicker already". Mission Raceway Park is one of the best racing surfaces in North America and with the track at or near sea level its no wonder Mission is home to Canada's quickest and fastest pro mod time slip which was done at this event last year.

Not only is this event very important when it comes to the 2007 WCPMA Championship, but the team will also use this event to prepare the car for the IHRA Rocky Mountain Nationals in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. "The Eaton Electrical event is only the second time in competition with our new car" said Delehay, The EATON presented "Fast and Furious on the Fraser" Pro Modified event will take place at Mission Raceway in British Columbia Saturday and Sunday June 30 - July 1.

OFFICIAL MRP PRESS RELEASE

PRO MOD CHALLENGE RETURNS TO MISSION

Mission, B.C., June 22, 2007 – One of the most popular classes in all of drag racing hits the track at Mission Raceway Park next weekend, June 30 – July 1.

That class is Pro Modified, and these wild-and-crazy cars, the fastest in the world with fully functioning doors as opposed to one-piece bodies, are the headliners in the Pro Mod Challenge, a West Coast Pro Mod Association series race.

Some two dozen of these 230-mph monsters, which are either supercharged and alcohol-burning or carbureted with nitrous oxide, will attempt to qualify for the 16-car final field, the first-ever at Mission for these cars, which could lead to what many are predicting will be personal-best performances by most of the racers, especially if the weather stays cool. Last year in those conditions, near-world record times were run.

At least ten of the entries consist of Canadians, and two B.C. drivers will uphold local honour. Trevor Lowe will represent Agassiz and the Fraser Valley with his '67 Chevy Camaro, and Glen May comes from Richmond with his Cranberry Connection Ford Ranger.

The rest of the Canadians are the cream of the crop from Ontario and the Prairies, including Carl Spiering from Ontario, Kenny Lang from Winnipeg, and Glen Kerunsky and Joe Delehay from Calgary.

In addition to the Pro Modified cars, a co-feature at Mission will be the Canadian Pro Street Association Street Car Series. The fastest street-legal cars in the West will all be at Mission, running 200 mph in under seven seconds.

Not only that, the RJ Enterprises Canada West Doorslammer Association, featuring 7-second cars that could be called “baby” Pro Mods, will run its fifth event of the season at Mission, making for an event tailor-made for fans of fast “stock-looking” cars.

This will be one of the most action-packed weekends of the racing season at Mission, a true racing happening.

Qualifying will be held on Saturday with the first of three Pro Mod sessions at noon, while final eliminations will begin Sunday at 11:30 am. Admission is $15 each day, including pit pass. Accompanied children 12 or under are admitted free of charge.
